CONSORT - Flow Diagram

01 Feb 2018

CONSORT stands for Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials and is developed by the CONSORT Group to encourage comprehensive reporting of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
The CONSORT Statement along with its checklist and flow diagram for reporting RCTs is endorsed by many medical journals. The flow diagram provides information regarding the number of participants screened and enrolled in the trial, and the discontinuations with reasons at each stage. This is done in order to showcase the actual number of participants who started at the beginning with due reasons for discontinuation at each stage and the final set of participants who complete the entire duration of the trial to ensure transparency with the final analysis.
